(a) Sick Leave Pool. A sick leave pool is established
according to requirements and conditions of Tex. Gov. Code, Chapter
661 to provide for the alleviation of hardship caused to an employee
and the employee's family if a catastrophic illness or injury forces
the employee to exhaust all leave time earned by that employee and
to lose compensation from the state.
(1) The human resources manager is designated as the
pool administrator.
(2) The pool administrator, with the advice and consent
of the executive director, will establish operating procedures consistent
with the requirements of this section and relevant law governing operation
of the pool. The pool administrator will ensure procedures are contained
and made available to all agency employees in the agency's HR policy
manual.
(3) An employee may contribute to the pool only by
written request in which the employee certifies that the contribution
is strictly voluntary.
(4) This policy is subject to change unless prohibited
by statute.
(b) Family Leave Pool. A family leave pool is established
according to requirements and conditions of Tex. Gov. Code, Chapter
661, Subchapter A-1. The family leave pool is separate from the sick
leave pool. An employee may withdraw leave time from the pool if certain
conditions are met and if the employee has exhausted all leave time
and will otherwise go into unpaid status.
