(a) Before a person may erect a directional sign, the person must obtain the approval of the department. A license or permit issued under Subchapter I or Subchapter K of this chapter (relating to Regulation of Signs along Interstate and Primary Highways and Control of Signs along Rural Roads, respectively) is not required for the erection or maintenance of a directional sign. (b) To obtain the approval the person must file an application on a form prescribed by the department that shows the location, message content, construction, and dimensions of the sign. (c) No fee is required for the application or approval. |
