(a) NSF/ANSI standards. Filters shall be listed and
labeled to NSF/ANSI Standard 50 or NSF/ANSI Standard 60, unless the
lagoon was constructed before the effective date of this subchapter
and it uses filters that are not replaced.
(b) Filters cleanable. For lagoons constructed on or
after the effective date of this subchapter, filters shall be designed
so that after cleaning according to manufacturer's instructions, the
system provides the required water clarity.
(c) Observable waste discharge. For a lagoon constructed
on or after the effective date of this subchapter, filters shall have
a readily observable free fall or sight glass installed on the waste
discharge line in order that the filter washing progress may be observed.
Sight glasses shall be readily removable for cleaning.
(d) Filters accessible. Filters shall be installed
so that filtration surfaces are accessible for inspection and service
in accordance with manufacturer's instructions.
(e) Operation and maintenance instructions. Filters
and separation tanks shall have operation and maintenance instructions
permanently installed on the filter or separation tank. Maintenance
instructions shall be unobstructed and clearly visible.
