(a) The facility shall conform to the provisions set
forth in the Life Safety Code (i.e., National Fire Protection Association
(NFPA) 101) and/or any applicable state and local fire safety codes.
Local government ordinances or codes may substitute for the Life Safety
Code only if the local ordinances or codes are specifically written
to include building occupancy for correctional usage.
(b) A formalized Life Safety Code/fire safety inspection
shall be completed prior to the facility becoming operational.
(c) All subsequent Life Safety Code/fire safety inspections
shall be conducted no later than the last day of the calendar month
of the previous year's inspection.
(d) Each Life Safety Code/fire safety inspection shall
result in a written report that contains at least the following information:
(1) the identification of the specific code(s) used
to complete the inspection. The code(s) used must be the Life Safety
Code or the applicable state, municipal, or county specific fire code
adopted by the jurisdiction;
(2) the name of the governmental entity that conducted
the inspection;
(3) the identification of any applicable code violations
or infractions and the corresponding corrective action requirements;
(4) the name and title of the person conducting the
inspection; and
(5) the date(s) of the inspection.
(e) Any deficiencies noted in the annual inspection
report shall be immediately addressed by the facility administrator
or designee. The facility administrator shall develop and document
a corrective action plan to rectify all deficiencies.
