(a) Purpose. This rule establishes a program to provide
youth with opportunities for career and technology education.
(b) General Provisions.
(1) Upon admission to TJJD, each youth completes a
vocational assessment. The results of the assessment may be considered
when determining appropriate career and technology education program
placement for the youth.
(2) Youth enrolled in a career and technology education
program complete a course in which they explore an individual career
path.
(3) Youth who are academically ready and are in compliance
with behavioral expectations have an opportunity to enroll in career
and technology education courses in conjunction with their academic
courses.
(4) Factors such as age, interest, safety, and basic
literacy are considered when placing youth in advanced career and
technology education courses.
(5) TJJD regularly reviews career and technology training
options to determine their relevance to employment opportunities in
the community.
(6) TJJD uses business, industry, and community resources
in developing academic and vocational education programs for selected
youth.
