(a) Social workers' advertisements and announcements
shall not contain deceptive, inaccurate, incomplete, out-of-date,
or out-of-context information about services or competence. Advertising
includes, but is not limited to, any announcement of services, letterhead,
business cards, commercial products, website entries, email, cell
phone communications, social media communications, and billing statements.
(b) The Council imposes no restrictions on the advertising
medium a social worker uses, including personal appearances, use of
personal voice, size or duration of the advertisement or use of a
trade name.
(c) All advertisements or announcements of a licensee's
professional services, including website pages, social media communications,
or telephone directory listings, shall clearly state the social worker's
licensure designation and any specialty recognition, if any.
(d) A social worker shall not announce or advertise
any information or reference to the social worker's certification
in a field outside of social work that is deliberately intended to
mislead the public.
(e) A licensee who retains or hires others to advertise
or promote the licensee's practice remains responsible for the statements
and representations made.
