RULE §117.57Massage School License Renewal

(a) The license of a massage school is valid for a two-year period beginning on the date of issuance of the initial license.

(b) To renew a massage school license, the licensee must submit:

  (1) the renewal fee prescribed under §117.100;

  (2) the completed renewal application on a department-approved form;

  (3) successfully pass a criminal history background check performed by the department in accordance with the Act, the department's criminal conviction guidelines, and pursuant to Texas Occupations Code, Chapters 51 and 53; and

  (4) any other information deemed necessary by the department to determine compliance with the Act and this subchapter.

(c) At least thirty (30) days before the license expiration date, the department shall send a notice of the expiration date and the amount of the renewal fee due. The notice will be mailed or emailed to the address in the department's records. Each massage school must file a renewal form in a manner prescribed by the department.

(d) The department shall renew a massage school license once all renewal requirements are met.

(e) A massage school which operates with an expired license may be subject to disciplinary action. Course hours taught during the time the license is expired will not apply toward the minimum 500-hour course of instruction. For the purpose of establishing the date of late renewal, the postmark date shall be considered the date of mailing.
