(a) On weighing in, a jockey may not weigh less than one pound under the jockey's proper weight nor weigh more than two pounds over the jockey's proper weight. (b) The stewards may disqualify a horse whose jockey weighs in at a weight in violation of this section and may discipline a person responsible for the weight violation. In determining a violation under this subsection, the stewards shall take into account any excess weight due to rain or mud. (c) The stewards may excuse a jockey from weighing in if the jockey is unable to weigh in due to accident, injury, or other good cause.
