RULE §1.191Emergency Vehicle Operation

(a) The Texas Department of Public Safety complies with Texas Transportation Code, §546.004, requirements that promulgate exceptions to the operation of an authorized emergency vehicle that is used for law enforcement purposes. The exceptions relate to operation without the use of audible and visual warning devices.

(b) In deciding not to operate the emergency lights or siren in compliance with the provisions of Texas Transportation Code, §546.004, the driver of the emergency vehicle should give consideration to the safety of others.
