SUBCHAPTER KFEDERAL FIREARMS DISABILITIES
RULE §27.143Access by Subject

(a) The department will grant access to federal prohibited person information to the person who is the subject of the information.

(b) To obtain a copy of the information maintained by the department under Texas Government Code, §411.0521, the subject of the information must submit a signed, written request that the department search the Firearms Disabilities File for information relating to the person to: Crime Records Service, Attn: Firearms Disabilities File, Texas Department of Public Safety, P.O. Box 4143, Austin, Texas 78765-4143. The written request must include the printed name, phone number, and return mailing address of the person designated to receive the results of the search. In addition, the subject must provide the following:

  (1) first, middle, and last name;

  (2) date of birth;

  (3) driver license or personal identification number;

  (4) social security number; and

  (5) a photocopy of a valid photo ID.

(c) Acceptable forms of a valid photo ID include:

  (1) a state issued driver license or personal identification card;

  (2) a county, city, or state ID card;

  (3) a student ID;

  (4) a government employment badge or card;

  (5) a prison ID; or

  (6) a military ID.
