(a) The OIG is responsible for preventing, detecting,
auditing, inspecting, reviewing, and investigating fraud, waste, and
abuse in Medicaid and other HHS programs. In addition, the OIG is
responsible for enforcing state law relating to the provision of HHS
in Medicaid and other HHS programs.
(b) The statutory authority for this chapter is provided
by Texas Human Resources Code Chapters 32 and 36; Texas Government
Code Chapter 531, and federal law (Social Security Act) and regulations
(42 C.F.R.).
