| (a) The Statewide Intake division of the Texas Department
of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) receives reports of child
abuse and neglect 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
(b) DFPS must assist the public in understanding what
to report and which protective interventions are available in response.
If a report clearly does not involve child abuse or neglect or risk
of abuse or neglect, DFPS may provide information and refer the reporter
to other community services to help the child and family.
