(a) The facility must provide sufficient housekeeping
and maintenance personnel, equipment, and supplies to maintain the
interior, exterior, and grounds of the facility in a safe, clean,
orderly, and attractive manner. In a nursing facility, an employee
must be designated as responsible for housekeeping services.
(b) Occupied resident rooms must be cleaned and put
in order at least daily.
(c) Storage areas must be kept safe and free from accumulations
of extraneous materials such as refuse, discarded furniture, and newspapers.
Combustibles, such as cleaning rags and compounds, must be kept in
closed metal containers and labeled.
(d) Attics, mechanical rooms, boiler rooms, and other
similar areas must not be used for storage purposes.
(e) All bleaches, detergents, disinfectants, insecticides,
and other poisonous substances must be kept in a safe place accessible
only to employees. They must not be kept in containers previously
containing food or medicine. Containers must be labeled.
