SUBCHAPTER KINSCRIPTION ON VEHICLES
RULE §1.151Exemption of Inscription

The director of the Texas Department of Public Safety is authorized to exempt certain vehicles from having printed on them the inscription set out in Texas Transportation Code, §721.002. In order to further law enforcement capabilities and effectively carry out administrative functions, the following vehicles are exempt from the requirement of having printed inscriptions:

  (1) vehicles primarily used for law enforcement and administrative purposes for which confidentiality is necessary; or

  (2) vehicles primarily used in areas where agency inscriptions would create an undue risk to department staff operating those vehicles as determined by the director.
