(a)The issuance of a driver license to any person under the age of 18 is prohibited unless the person: (1)has obtained a high school diploma or its equivalent (GED); or (2)has been enrolled for at least 45 days, and is currently enrolled in a program to prepare persons to pass the high school equivalency exam (GED); or (3)is a student currently enrolled, or during the summer was enrolled at the end of the spring semester, in a public or private school (includes home school students) and who attended classes at least 80 days during the fall or spring semester immediately preceding the date of application; or (4)has received MRDL authorization to obtain a license. (b)The minor applicant shall submit a verification of enrollment and attendance form with any original application or any application where the expiration date will be changed. (c)The Verification of Enrollment and Attendance form will be valid for 30 days from the date of signature during the regular semester and is valid for 90 days from date of signature during the summer break. The applicant must bring a new form for subsequent transactions in which the expiration date is extended. (d)Home schoolers may submit a letter from the instructor as a substitute for the Verification of Enrollment and Attendance form. However, the letter must contain the same information as the Verification of Enrollment and Attendance form with the exception of the school name and district. Home schoolers may use the Verification of Enrollment and Attendance form if they choose.
