RULE §5.53Conditional Approval of Doctoral Degree Programs

(a)Approval of all new doctoral degree programs is granted on a conditional basis.

(b)Conditionally approved doctoral degree programs shall, within the first five years following approval, satisfy any conditions stipulated by the Board at the time the program was approved.

(c)A conditionally approved doctoral degree program shall submit a report to the Coordinating Board each year for the five year period following program implementation. Progress toward satisfaction of any conditions of approval shall be described in the report.

(d)A conditionally approved doctoral degree program shall be automatically granted final approval if the program satisfies all conditions of approval by the end of the first five years following program implementation.

(e)Notice of final approval shall be provided in writing by the Commissioner or Commissioner's designee to the chief academic officer of the institution where the program is located.

This agency hereby certifies that the proposal has been reviewed by legal counsel and found to be within the agency's legal authority to adopt.
